Plant-Based Sweetener

Summary

A leading developer of natural food ingredients needed to reduce the moisture content of a high-value plant-based sweetener from approximately 50% to under 5%. In addition to drying, they sought the ability to control particle size for downstream processing.

Our team used a dispersion dryer system in a continuous setup, experimenting with operating conditions such as rotor speed, air temperature, and feed rate. The material, originally received in a frozen state, required pre-processing and rehydration before testing. Real-time adjustments allowed us to monitor product performance and tailor output characteristics.

‍

• Moisture content was consistently reduced to as low as 1.9%

• Product particle size was successfully adjusted to meet coarse material targets

• Continuous operation ran smoothly, demonstrating both system stability and flexibility

• The process produced a majority of recoverable product with minimal loss
‍
This test highlighted the ability of our dispersion drying technology to deliver precise moisture reduction and customizable particle size in a single, continuous step—ideal for sensitive or high-value materials in food, nutrition, or biotech markets.
