Wet Agglomeration and Instant Mixing

Bepex® offers this wet agglomeration approach to producing granules when dispersion and solubility are the major concerns. By the accurate introduction of powders and liquid solutions into a specially designed mixing chamber, low to medium density agglomerates with good dispersibility are produced. Bepex® offers complete agglomeration systems for producing granules, with proven agglomerating devices followed by fluid dryer bed conditioning, and optional screening and recycle.

In the agglomeration system drawing on the right, one feeder feeds a preblended mixture of fresh powder into the agglomerator; another feeder feeds recycled fines, while a liquid dosing system mixes the liquid binder solution and feeds it to the agglomerator. The powders and liquids are mixed and agglomerated in the agglomerator, and then dropped into the fluid bed dryer for drying and conditioning. Following the fluid bed dryer is a screener to separate the product into oversize (which will be ground and recycled to the screener inlet), on size product, and undersize (which will be recycled to the agglomerator feed).

SCHUGI®

The Flex-O-Mix agglomerator was specially designed for wet agglomeration with its vertical mixing chamber and self-cleaning wall. This device combines an atomized liquid with a powder, to produce soluble granules in the 0.2 to 1 mm size range.

TURBULIZER®

When granules of a larger size or higher density are required, the Turbulizer® is employed. The orientation of the Turbulizer® allows for longer retention, thus larger particles are formed. Granules as large as 3mm are possible.
