DIRECT DRYING
One method of thermal processing is by using Direct Drying. Direct dryers transfer heat by contacting the product with a heated
gas---usually hot air. Thermal Processing by using this method is an ideal choice for removing moisture
and also efficient for heat-sensitive products because the product
temperature is reduced by evaporative cooling. The drop in product
temperature can eliminate the need for operating under vacuum.
It is often advantageous to combine milling and direct drying in
a single unit. This saves space and reduces the inlet feed particle
size prior to drying, optimizing heat transfer and evaporation.
