| The Rietz®
Curd Drainer is designed to gently remove the free water transferred
with the curd from the Washer/Cooler. In fact, this food processing equipment's extremely
gentle squeezing action results in less curd damage and reduced
loss of fines down the drain. Many of its components are interchangeable
with the Whey Drainer, simplifying maintenance. Cooled curd
and wash water from the Washer/Cooler are pumped onto a continuous
fine-mesh polyester belt, which allows free water to drain
into a discharge chamber. Controlled tension on the belt gently
squeezes the curd against a rotating drum to further reduce
water content. Up to 15,000 lbs. of curd can be drained per
hour.
The Rietz® Curd Drainer is mounted on a unique Rietz®
Pivoting Pedestal, capable of swiveling 360° to allow
discharge of curd to as many as four creamers. Swiveling connections
on the curd/water supply line and the drain water line mean
no disconnects are necessary when the unit is moved from one
creamer to another, saving time and safeguarding against spillage
and bacterial contamination.
Drain water is recovered and reused as transfer/cooling water
at the Whey Drainer.
